Trad steps in to lead Queensland after house saga

Face of Nation : Jackie Trad will temporarily act as Queensland’s leader after being spared an investigation by the anti-corruption body over a Brisbane property buy that has rattled the state government.

The Crime and Corruption Commission cleared the deputy premier and Treasurer of dishonesty and corruption allegations over her failure to properly declare an investment home.

She will step in as acting premier when Annastacia Palaszczuk travels to Switzerland on Saturday. The premier however, will have to find a right-hand man after her chief of staff resigned on Friday amid a separate crisis.

David Barbagallo remains under assessment by the CCC after a business he directs and part owns received a government grant to develop a smartphone app.
