Face of Nation : The post shows an exhibition with a product from Extremo Sports Nutrition. Jack, 20, recently proved positive for the banned Ligandrol drug and was forced to lose the recent world swimming championships. Ligandrol is a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM), which was developed to help with the treatment of medical conditions such as osteoporosis. It helps the growth of muscle mass and has been detected in drug tests used in sports.

In a blog post 2018, ASADA warned athletes that not only was LGD-4033 (Ligandrol) banned in sports, but has not yet been clarified through clinical studies.

Jack says he doesn’t know how the drug got into his system. The Extremo website contains small details on what is in its product, Post Sports Recovery.

The site says of its product: “With the most complete blend of nutrients available including sodium, magnesium, amino acids, carbohydrates and proteins, it eliminates fatigue, increases hydration, repairs muscle damage and pain and brings you back to maximum performance faster so you can play better “.

The Australia Sports Swimming Supplement Policy lists two websites that check supplement brands and suggests that swimmers only use supplements that have been checked.

Neither of the two control websites lists Extremo.  But he suggests that Jack may have taken sports supplements during his career. His case gave rise to new warnings on the use of sports supplements by athletes who may contain prohibited products not listed on the label.
