South Australian couple banned from AFL games after ‘Adelaide Oval brawl’

Face of Nation : A South Australian couple have been banned from Adelaide Oval for the rest of this year’s AFL season after they were charged with an alleged brawl during a game.Caught on camera, tensions were seen boiling over in the third quarter of last night’s clash between the Adelaide Crows and Essendon Bombers when a woman lashed out at a man sitting in front of her.
Security guards who were already stationed in the area of the alleged incident moved in swiftly to separate the pair from the victim, marching them out of the stadium.
SA Police then spoke to the couple, who are from Sheidow Park and both aged 26, and they were charged with assault before being banned from Adelaide Oval for three months.
Despite that penalty, the AFL Fans’ Association has called for tougher consequences in light of the alleged brawl.“It’s really frustrating to see this is an ongoing issue,” Gerry Eeman told.
Both the Adelaide Crows and Essendon Football Clubs have condemned the behaviour, saying that any member who engages in violence at their games could have their memberships revoked.
The couple has been granted bail and will face court next month.
