Face of Nation : RCMP say they are sending a dive team to the remote community of Gillam, Man., to assist in the search for two suspects wanted in connection to three northern B.C. homicides.
Divers will start searching a section of the Nelson River on Sunday and are expected to arrive in Gillam Saturday night, the police force said in a news release. The move comes a few days after the RCMP announced they were winding down their search in the area following more than a week of searching there for Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, and Kam McLeod, 19.
The two men are charged with second-degree murder in the death of University of British Columbia lecturer Leonard Dyck, and are suspects in the killings of tourists Lucas Fowler and Chynna Deese. Gillam, a town of about 1,300, is located about 730 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg. The Nelson River flows north from Lake Winnipeg to Hudson Bay. Gillam is located nearĀ its banks.
