Face of Nation International : This morning, police alleged the 41-year-old male Porsche driver had an extensive criminal history.
“He is currently being spoken to by police and is assisting Homicide Squad detectives in relation to the investigation,” Victoria Police said. Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton earlier told a press conference the driver had tested positive for “some type of drug” after police stopped him.
He said it appeared the driver had taken photos of the scene before he fled and posted them to Facebook. “Some of those photographs were circulating last night online,” he said. The photos have since been removed by Facebook.
He said while it was an indictable offence to flee the scene of a crash, he did not want to pre-empt an official police interview with the Porsche driver. “As Chief Commissioner, to have four officers killed last night, from someone who was clearly driving erratically on the freeway, and with an extensive criminal history, it disgusts me,” he said.
Melbourne man James Tsagros posted dashcam footage to Facebook on March 21 which appeared to show the same Porsche overtaking his vehicle at high speed on the Eastern Freeway. It is not known who was driving the Porsche on that occasion. (Source: ABC News – Australia)
