India celebrates, today historical day : Article 370 in Kashmir to be scrapped

Parliament Kashmir issue LIVE updates: Hours after Section 144 CrPc was imposed in Srinagar late Sunday night and mainstream party leaders including Omar and Farooq Abdullah, and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, among others – were placed under house arrest, Union Home Minister Amit will make a statement in the Parliament over the ongoing situation in the state.

Meanwhile, several Congress MPs have given an Adjournment Motion notice in the Lok Sabha over the ongoing clampdown in Kashmir.

On Friday the Lok Sabha passed the Dam Safety Bill aiming to institute uniform safety procedures for dams in India. If the bill is made into a law, then dam owners will have to provide a dam safety unit in each dam. The dam safety unit will be required to inspect the dam before and after the monsoon session, and also during and after natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods.
