Face of Nation : A little girl has died after falling from a boat and going missing near Dangar Island, north of Sydney today.
The toddler, 3, was recovered from the water and flown to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition but was pronounced dead after arrival.
Paramedics were called to the scene about 12.50pm near Brooklyn on the Hawkesbury River following reports that a child was missing.
Four crews and an ambulance helicopter responded. The little girl was located and treated at the scene before being flown to hospital.
Pictures from the scene showed paramedics working on the little girl on the pier at Brooklyn.
They later wheeled her up the pier behind a red blanket before transferring her into a waiting ambulance.
“Officers from Marine Area Command recovered the child from the water south of Dangar Island,” the NSW Ambulance Service said in a statement.
“CPR was commenced and the girl was stabilised by paramedics at a nearby boat ramp.”
But NSW Police confirmed the toddler had drowned this afternoon.
A local who works on the water at Brooklyn told news.com.au it is believed the little girl fell from a yacht.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner and officers from the Marine Area Command are investigating the circumstances around the little girl’s death.
