External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar Meets Foreign Ministers For Bilateral Discussions

Face of Nation : External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar had 11 bilateral meetings with Iran, Bulgaria, Turkey, Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, UAE amongst others on Monday. He also had a meeting with US Special Envoy on Afghanistan, he said.

EAM S Jaishankar took to Twitter to post updates of his meeting with the Foreign Ministers (FM) of various nations and the shared snippets of his discussions that took place at the 74th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The UNGA meeting was in New York City on Monday which was also attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

EAM S Jaishankar shared that he met with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Javad Zarif in the 74th session of UNGA and claimed that they discussed their individual viewpoints on regional developments.

He also said that he discussed India’s viewpoint on global challenges which included terrorism with the FM of Cote d’Ivoire, Marcel Amon-Tanoh. Next meeting was with FM Dr. Karen Cummings of Guyana where he conveyed India’s strong commitment to Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM).

CARICOM is an organisation with an objective to promote economic integration and cooperation and equally share the benefits of the integration of its members.

The EAM met with Foreign Affairs Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva of Bulgaria with whom he discussed the new areas for cooperation in the sector of business between India and Bulgaria.

The FM of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu also met with S Jaishankar to discuss the various aspects of India and Turkey’s bilateral relations with each other. The EAM went ahead to speak with the FM of Equatorial Guinea, Simeón Oyono Esono Angué about the nation’s contribution to India’s energy security and said that both countries would jointly implement bilateral cooperation.
