Face of Nation : EUROSTAR passengers have taken to social media to vent their anger at the high-speed railway service limiting the amount of alcohol travellers can now take on board. Eurostar made the move to make the onboard environment more “pleasant.”
Eurostar has quietly toughened up its alcohol restrictions on board – and passengers are not happy. Travellers are now banned from bringing any spirits on board Eurostar trains. They are also allowed just one bottle of wine or four cans of beer each. Eurostar has said this is to make the atmosphere on-board the railway service more “pleasant.”
If train-goers wish to take more than the alcohol allowance they are advised to use the company’s luggage service, which charges a minimum fee of £30 per item.
Eurostar states in the “prohibited items” section of their website that passengers are allowed: “Four bottles or cans of beer or one bottle of wine per person. No spirits are permitted.
“If you’d like to take extra alcohol with you, you can – just use Eurodespatch our registered luggage service if you’d like to bring some home.
Despite the toughened restrictions, Eurostar still states on their luggage allowance page: “There’s no restriction on liquids (except on the ski train) so you can pack a bottle of bubbly for the train, or bring back some Parisian perfume or a bottle or two from a château-hopping trip.”
Passengers have taken to social media to complain about the recent changes.
