DRDO Successfully Test-fires anti-Tank Nag Missile

Face of Nation : The Defence Ministry on Friday said to have successfully test- fired the Nag Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM), a number of times at Rajasthan’s Pokhran Field Firing ranges.

Having completed the mission on Thursday, the missile underwent trials 12 times during a period of 11 days. In a statement released by the Ministry, it said, “NAG, the DRDO’s indigenously developed 3rd Generation Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) has successfully undergone a series of summer trials at Pokhran Field Firing Ranges carried out by the Indian Army during 7-18 July 2019.” The Nag ATGM missile, developed by DRDO for all weather conditions, achieved a direct hit onto the target, hitting minimum and maximum ranges in direct and top attack modes.

The NAG Missile System (NAMIS), inclusive of third generation Anti-Tank Guided Missile, the NAG, along with the Missile Carrier Vehicle (NAMICA), was last year approved by the Defence Acquisition Council at a cost of Rs 524 crore.
