Face of Nation International : A handful of states have taken steps to begin slowly rolling back social distancing restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of coronavirus as scattered protests across the nation take on governors who hold fast to stay-at-home orders.
Those social distancing efforts have saved many American lives, according to White House coronavirus response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx, who on Saturday cited data showing the U.S. has a lower per-capita death rate than multiple European countries. She attributed that to “the amazing work of the American people to really adhere to social distancing.”
But nationwide orders to stay at home have led to unprecedented weekly unemployment reports as many Americans report that vital stimulus payments are stuck in limbo.
