Face of Nation : It’s a menu item we’ve had for years and now KFC lovers in the UK are losing their minds after the fast-food giant added it to their menu.
The Brits have long been complaining about their hatred of KFC’s soggy and tasteless chips which are still not winning over fussy punters despite a revamp, according to local reports.
In a bid to cater for their potato needs, KFC has taken some tips from Aussies by selling its famous mashed potatoes — just without the signature gravy.
It’s nothing new for us Aussies, in fact it’s all we’ve ever known. Mashed potato, with a splash of gravy, is a staple in our KFC experience. But not for Brits — their equivalent is a side of barbecued baked beans.
Which is why they’re losing it over our all too familiar fluffy potato side, calling it a “life changer”.
“KFC now do mash and honestly my life has changed, I need to try it ASAP,” one potato lover said on Twitter.
“When did KFC start serving mash potato as a side? Thought this heavenly fluffy goodness was only stateside #GameChanger,” another satisfied customer said.
“Need everyone to know that kfc now does creamy mash,” a third enthusiast tweeted.
It launched yesterday in KFC stores all across the UK and Ireland.
The new addition of the creamy pot of goodness comes after years of petitioning from fans who have tasted it overseas (Australia) and wanted the same satisfying experience back home, according to The Mirror.
KFC also added Southern Rice and a garden salad for its UK fans, as a lower calorie carb options, but clearly, the creamy mash is what punters really care about.
“KFC has mashed potato now. F**k aye,” a fan posted on Twitter.
“Did someone say KFC mashed potato? #mash #kfc,” posted another.
Meanwhile, back on Aussie turf we also are getting super excited about a new KFC addition after the fast-food outlet secretly released a new burger filled with nuggets.
The fast food chain described it as “iconic Original Recipe Fillet, cheese, supercharged sauce, mayonnaise, and golden chicken nuggets”.
To get your hands on the burger, all you need to do is download the KFC app.
Once you’re in the app select the store near you, tap order and scroll down the menu bar until you see the iconic Colonel icon.
The secret KFC menu will be updated monthly.
