Face of Nation : A sarpanch (village head) was killed by Maoists in his native village in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, the police mentioned at this time.

As per preliminary info, over a dozen ultras stormed into the home of Lakhma Ram Mandavi, 40, in Chhote Gudra village on late Friday night time and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons, a senior officer mentioned, including that Mr Mandavi died on the spot.

He mentioned the police had been knowledgeable concerning the incident by locals at this time morning. He mentioned the person was a nominated sarpanch of Chhote Gudra village panchayat.

The motive behind the killing will not be recognized but, the officer mentioned, including that Maoist pamphlets had been discovered on the spot.

“Prima facie, Maoists were demanding money from the sarpanch and called him up for a meeting. He might have been killed for refusing to pay,” the officer mentioned.
