Face of Nation : A man has been arrested and charged with assault after two people were shot with a gel blaster. Neither person was injured when they were hit by the pellets fired from the small gel gun.

Police will allege that a man entered a North East Rd petrol station in St Agnes and shot a staff member in the neck at around noon on Sunday. He then went to a nearby supermarket and shot a staff member in the right shoulder.

Police were called and searched the area, locating a 22-year-old Blair Athol man on Dale St in Ridgehaven who matched descriptions of the shooter. A gel blaster was also found in the man’s possession.

He was arrested without incident and taken to Holden Hill Police Station where he was charged with two counts of aggravated assault. He was granted bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later in the year.

It is not illegal to possess a gel blaster in South Australia as they are not classified as a firearm, a replica firearm or an imitation firearm under current legislation.
