Riverina Police District Inspector Peter McLay said officers were waiting at the intersection of Edward and Best Street when they saw a Mack Tipper driving suspiciously about 4am on Sunday.

“Both boys were from Darlington Point. They were arrested and taken to Wagga Police Station where they had to be held for a number of hours until such time as police could locate a support person for those boys,” he said. Inspector McLay said they were released without charges, pending further investigations.

“They are only young boys, and we weren’t able to interview them or speak to them until such time as we can get a parent as well,” he said. “In fact, they did drive the vehicle all the way from Darlington Point to Wagga without having an accident, colliding with someone else, killing themselves or someone else on the road … and you’ve just got to wonder where their parents were.”
