National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are on high alert to deal with cyclone ‘Vayu’

Face of Nation :The Gujarat administration and several teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are on high alert to deal with cyclone ‘Vayu’, which is likely to make landfall on the Gujarat coast on June 13, 2019. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani told thousands of people, who are living in the coastal belt, will be evacuated as one of the safety measures. Government also ordered closing down of the educational institutes in all coastal districts. According to the weather officials, the cyclone ‘Vayu’ is located around 630 km south of Veraval coast and is “very likely to intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm” in next 12 hours and hit the state coast on June 13, 2019. The cyclone is likely to affect Junagadh, Porbandar, Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Kutch, Jamnagar and Gir-Somnath districts of Gujarat. Odisha government offered help to the Gujarat government to tackle the situation. Recently, Odisha government implemented the disaster management techniques in a better way when cyclone Fani had hit the eastern coastal state. CM Rupani told “We have cancelled leaves of all the employees concerned and asked them to join the duty. After the Cabinet meet tomorrow, all the ministers will go to various districts to oversee relief and rescue operations.”
