Gold Coast aged care home’s shock closure

0

Face of Nation : A private aged care home on the Gold Coast has unexpectedly closed leaving its residents distressed, with the state’s health department working to find them short term accommodation.

Queensland Health said the Earle Haven Retirement Village at Nerang appears to have “unexpectedly ceased operating” on Thursday afternoon.

“This is distressing for residents and families of this private aged care facility,” a Queensland Health spokesperson said in a statement.

“Our immediate concern is for the health and wellbeing of these residents.”

Queensland Ambulance and staff from the Gold Coast Hospital are on site to provide assistance to the elderly residents.

The health department is providing short-term assistance for the residents but has urged the federal government to find the residents somewhere to live.
