Face of Nation : The group, Campaign Against Corbynism (CAC), gained thousands of followers on the first day of its launch promoting itself as an organisation aimed at “stopping Jeremy Corbyn”. Primarily, the group has attacked the Labour leader over the allegations of anti-Semitism within the party. Stating on the website, CAC says: “We’re a cross-party organisation aimed at stopping Jeremy Corbyn, or anyone else who shares his regressive far-left ideology, from becoming Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
“We firmly believe a Corbyn led Labour Government would threaten Britain’s national security and social cohesion as well as leaving certain minority communities vulnerable and marginalised.”
The group has so far gained more than 7,000 supporters on its Twitter page since its launch.
Notable followers of the group include LBC broadcaster, Iain Dale and Countdown’s Rachel Riley.
Mr Corbyn’s party has suffered several accusations of anti-Semitism within the party.
Such were the supposed problems, that former Labour MP Luciana Berger left claiming that she could not remain due to the “institutionally antisemitic” nature within the party.
Moreover, Ms Berger was among a number of MPs to leave Labour over the allegations.
Fellow former Labour MP, Ian Austin also blamed Mr Corbyn for “creating a culture of extremism and intolerance”.
Furthermore, MP Chris Williamson was suspended from the party after claiming that it had been “too apologetic” over the criticism it had faced over anti-semitism allegations.
Such were the allegations that the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) launched a probe earlier this year after receiving a number of complaints of anti-Semitism.
A Labour spokesman did state that the party “rejects any suggestion that the party does not handle ant-Semitism complaints fairly and robustly, or that the party has acted unlawfully”.
Moreover, the party has insisted that it would co-operate fully with the investigation.
Posting on his website, the Labour leader also stated: “Labour is an anti-racist party to its core and has a long and proud history of standing against racism, including anti-semitism.
“I have campaigned against racism all my life and the Jewish community has been at the heart of the Labour party and progressive politics in Britain for more than a hundred years.
“There is no place for anti-semitism or any form of racism in the Labour party, or anywhere in society, and we will make sure that our party is a welcoming home to members of all communities.”
