Face of Nation International : It began when police were called to a break-in at a telecommunications building off the Captain Cook Highway at 4:30am.

A man then allegedly fired shots at police and rammed multiple police vehicles with his car, which later caught fire and exploded.

It is not yet known if any officers were injured. A Queensland Police spokesman said the man was now contained in a cordoned-off bushland area at Thomatis Creek, but he had not been sighted.

“It’s highly likely there are crocodiles in the area,” the spokesman said. The Captain Cook Highway between Holloways Beach and Yorkeys Knob remains closed to all traffic. “Police do know where he is,” the spokesman said.

“We have multiple officers on scene.” (Source: ABC News – Australia)
