Face of Nation : The Jubilee line ground to a halt due to a faulty train at Southwark. The service is running but with major delays. Overcrowding on the Docklands Light Railway then saw Bank station evacuated, forcing hundreds back on the streets. District line trains are severely delayed between Earl’s Court and Wimbledon due to a signal failure.

Transport for London tweeted: “Waterloo station is very busy and will temporarily have restricted access to the Jubilee line platforms, this is to prevent overcrowding. Please use nearby stations or allow extra time for your journey.”

Furious commuters took to Twitter this morning.

One wrote: “@TfL you raise prices every year but your services don’t get any better. Travelling on the @jubileeline this morning is horrendous.”

Another said: “Absolutely ridiculous this is. Over two hours late for work because of your stupid trains!”

TfL called for commuters to use other routes but as many went to the Docklands Light Railway casuing overcrowding at Bank station.

One traveller tweeted: “Bank Station being evacuated. No details currently.”

The DLR has now stopped services to Bank and instead terminating and starting trains at Shadwell.

TfL later said: “Bank/ Monument station is currently closed to prevent overcrowding. Please use nearby stations to continue your journeys. We’ll keep you updated.”

Other lines were affected from Bank with one furious commuter saying: “Unsafe to travel on the @northernline at the moment.

“What do you think you are doing @TfL?

“Bank closed, Moorgate overran. Utter chaos. @LBG_Station 21st century station after mega expensive rebuild? Not fit for last century. Daily mayhem.”

Chaos continued throughout morning rush hour with many not being able to get on to trains. One said: “No access to Jubilee Line and the queue to DLR at Shadwell is 5 blocks long. Now I am on the bus D3 to Leamouth. Wherever that is.”

Other warned of a safety risk. One said: “Honestly @jubileeline where was your staff stopping people cramming themselves into the tube today?! I’ve been stood on and crushed to the glass unable to stand up straight in a over packed tube which caused me to to have a severe panic attack.”

And others questioned the price of tickets.

One long suffering commuter said: “@TfL yet again @LondonDLR is a mess this morning with a number of trains being diverted half way through their journeys to random stations and Bank station closed. Overall the service remains stretched due to a lack of capacity and infrequent services. Why am I paying for?!”

Just after 9am DLR reopened Bank station and a spokesman said “train services are stopping again as normal”.

However, problems are still being reported by huge numbers of commuters.

Other claimed police werew at Moorgate station and the Central line was also suffering delays.
