Face of Nation : Police are hunting a weapon that could have been used to kill an elderly man who was found dead on a footpath in Melbourne’s east. The 73-year-old was found laying dead on the footpath on Browning street at Kilsyth about 9am on Wednesday.
Homicide detectives combed a nearby oval for a weapon, tyring to piece together the death which is being treated as suspicious. Forensic police and the state’s emergency services examined the scene for clues.
Pictures showed the body covered by a tarp, with the man’s feet at the front gate of a home. Police believe a man seen fleeing the scene could hold the key to solving the case.
“Investigators are currently investigating the circumstances and have information that another man was seen with the victim at the scene, prior to fleeing the area,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
Detectives want to speak to residents or anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area between 8.30am and 9.30am. “Anyone who may have residential CCTV in those areas and anyone driving with dashcam footage in the area are urged to contact police,” Victoria Police said.
